Shortly after my PGCE course, I was posted to a Secondary school teaching fourth and fifth years “O” Level Economics and Mathematics. . Then last year, the Ministry of Education implemented a new educational system where various new subjects were introduced. Our Minister of Education further mentioned that teachers need to be more knowledgeable in the subjects they teach, sounding the challenge that “a good teacher is someone who can master the subject”. . Along with this challenge, the Minister of Education unveiled a program to provide the scholarship for teachers to pursue further studies in the subjects aligned with their degrees in The United Kingdom. During the nine years, I have been in the school, teaching Economics and Mathematics for “O” Level students, I have held many administrative responsibilities that have taught me numerous lessons in school management.
My most challenging was when I was appointed as Head of the Timetabling Section, looking after teachers and classroom timetables. Coordinating schedules and university resources was a challenge I truly relished as it gave me an opportunity to apply my skills in organizing events, logistics and leading people. as I have been, for the most part of my life, an outgoing person who loves being around and working with people in various positions. . My experience is with the school’s Scouting Club, various Sports Clubs and the Parents-Teachers Association served me well in successfully executing my duties. This year, I have been appointed as the new Head of Examination Section.
